Jessica Thomas, a nutritionist with Yancey County, will be on hand to rustle up a farmers’ market meal from WIC Coupon eligible produce at the market! The objectives of the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program / FMNP are to:

  • Improve the nutrition of WIC participants
  • Increase North Carolina farmers´ share of the food dollar
  • Help revitalize rural areas by increasing awareness and use of farmers’ markets.

Produce (Mother Nature willing…)

Produce growers will be offering arugula, basil, beans, beets, blueberries, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, herbs, garlic scapes, garlic, kale, dinosaur kale, kohlrabi, leeks, assorted greens and lettuces, microgreens, napa cabbage, new potatoes, onions, parsley, radishes, raspberries, scallions, shitake mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, mixed squash, a few strawberries, sugar snap peas, Swiss chard, turnips, and zucchini. Summer spinach and lettuces are just about to return, too!

Plant growers will be offering flower and vegetable sets, annuals and perennials, shrubbery, and trees. Mary Dale Growers is continuing their big plant sale through July!

Local honey , eggs, goat cheese, raw goat milk for pets, baked goods, hot sauce, homemade jellies and jams, personal care products and country crafts.
